The Competitive Art of Joint Rolling

Rolling Derby is a high-energy joint-rolling competition celebrating speed, style, and cannabis culture.

How Rolling Derby Works

It's you against time to roll a great joint. Whether you're sitting in front of your phone camera counting down, or you're sitting in a group rolling against a common clock - you can participate in the Rolling Derby.

3-2-1 go and you are breaking down flower, preparing a paper (or two), loading it up, rolling, rolling, licking, twisting. How deep is your muscle memory?

Rolling Derby Online

Think you've got fast fingers? Join our online Rolling Derby! Shoot a video of yourself grinding flower and rolling a joint. Upload the video to X/Twitter or YouTube with hashtag #rollingderby. You could win glory and prizes.

Online Derby Rules:

  • 1 gram of flower, start with whole nugs
  • If you want a paper tip or crutch, prepare that in advance
  • Pulling out the rolling paper starts the clock
  • Keep your hands in the frame at all times
  • Grind or shred flower after the timer is running
  • Show your empty grinder after grinding
  • Roll into king-sized rolling papers (1 gram does not fit well in a 1.25")
  • Declare when you're done and hold up your creation
  • Too much excess material left behind can add time

Video Guidelines:

  • Portrait style.
  • We need to see your hands and work space.
  • Seeing your face in the shot is nice too.
  • Good to start the video with a brief personal introduction. Here's some suggestions: your name or handle, where you're from, where to find you online, maybe your joint-rolling philosophy, approach, or story.
  • Upload your video to x/Twitter and YouTube with hashtag #rollingderby. You can also send us the video if you don't have a way to upload.

We'll be calling out winners for speed, style, humor. Select entrants will be chosen for timed bracket competition starting July 31:
